Your installer has designed your solar and battery system to be safe, reliable, and low maintenance. However, like any home improvement, a few simple precautions can help keep everything running smoothly for years to come. Here are some tips to ensure your system stays safe and efficient.

1. Never Hang Anything from Your Solar Panels

Today’s solar panels are built to withstand changing weather conditions but not extra weight. Hanging decorations, lights or other objects can damage the panels, compromise their performance, and even void your warranty.

2. When Cleaning Panels, Do So from the Ground

Leaves, branches, and other debris can block sunlight, which reduces the efficiency of solar panels.  If you see debris on the panels, use a hose to wash them with plain water while standing on the ground. We recommend cleaning the panels early in the day, before the sun heats the panels. Avoid spraying cold water on hot panels – it can crack the glass.  If you cannot clean the panels from the ground, contact a professional. Never attempt to climb onto your roof to clean the panels yourself.

3. Give Your Battery Room to Breathe

Your battery system needs proper airflow and clearance to operate safely. Avoid stacking items around it or blocking vents to help prevent overheating and ensure optimal performance.

4. Track Your System’s Production

Most EverBright customers can track system production in MyEverBright . Log in to check performance and alerts. If you own your system, you are responsible for any service and repairs. If you have a PPA or lease and there’s a system performance issue, our third-party provider, Omnidian, will reach out to you to troubleshoot.1

5. Hands Off the Wiring

Solar and battery systems involve high-voltage components. Never attempt DIY repairs or adjustments. If you suspect an issue, call a certified technician if you own your panels. Call our Customer Support team at (877) 425-5201 if you have a PPA or Lease.

Bottom Line

Treat your solar and battery system like any major home investment — handle it with care, avoid unnecessary interference, and rely on experts for repairs.
